GLV Based High Definition Display The GLV technology was originally developed for use in extremely high-resolution digital display products. The unique MEMS is used to precisely diffract laser beams - recreating images that are bright, high in contrast and supreme in color reproduction. Ultra-precise spatial light modulation produces nearly flawless images. Through an exclusive licensing agreement, Sony Corporation is applying Silicon Light Machines’ technology to accelerate the development of next-generation display products that utilize lasers as a light source - including large-scale digital projector systems and home theater equipment. According to Suehiro Nakamura, Sony’s Deputy President, "We believe the GLV technology has the potential to become one of the key components for future large-scale projection displays that offer unprecedented image quality." We have worked with the world leading manufacturers of Computer-to-Plate (CtP) equipment to revolutionize the high-end print market. CtP is a printing method that writes the image directly to the media - in this case aluminum backed plate with thermal emulsion - without the need for masks. The GLV technology enables print manufacturers to deliver unprecedented image quality and higher throughput. The product enables customers to flatten the spectrum with extremely low residual ripple with no limitation in supporting any channel spacing. The 2200 offers tighter control of optical amplifiers, leading to improved OSNR, longer transmission distance, and lower overall system cost. The product is no longer commercially supported by Silicon Light Machines. |
