Hal Zarem, President and CEO Dr. Hal Zarem joined Silicon Light Machines in 2002 as vice president of sales and marketing before assuming his current role as president and CEO in 2003. As such, he has been instrumental in leading the company’s successful transition from one that licenses intellectual property to one that develops and markets a range of cutting-edge optical-electrical products for applications in commercial printing, direct write lithography and laser navigation. Dr. Zarem has extensive international experience and a track record of startup success. He came to Silicon Light Machines from his role as vice president of strategic marketing at JDSU, a leading broadband and optical innovator in the telecommunications market. He also served as a general manager at Ortel Corporation (since acquired by Agere Corporation), where he created and managed the company’s Wireless Communications Division. Dr. Zarem earned a B.A. in physics from the University of California Berkeley, and both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in applied physics from the California Institute of Technology. He holds two patents and has published 34 technical papers. |

Ken Fukui, VP of Operations Ken Fukui joined Silicon Light Machines in 2005, bringing with him 25 years of engineering project management, offshore manufacturing startup, and manufacturing operations experience. As vice president of operations for Silicon Light Machines, he works on several fronts to integrate GLV technology into customer products. Part of that work includes developing strategic plans to transfer manufacturing to key subcontracting partners while ensuring customer commitments and quality are maintained. To do this, Mr. Fukui harnesses his long experience working with vendors in the Far East. Mr. Fukui hails from Intel, where he was director of the optical products division. Before that he built up the manufacturing operation of LightLogic. He also has director-level management experience at Seagate Technology, IBM and Komag, Inc. Mr. Fukui earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of California in Los Angeles and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Santa Clara, California. |

Lars Eng, VP of Engineering At Silicon Light Machines, Dr. Lars Eng leads a team of cutting-edge technologists to create next-generation optoelectronics products for the company’s customers. He joined the company in 2005 as senior director of systems engineering, before being promoted to his current position as vice president of engineering in January 2008. Before joining Silicon Light Machines, Dr. Eng was director of design engineering at Finisar Corporation. Prior to that, he was director of telecommunications product development for Lucent/Agere Optoelectronics. Dr. Eng brings to the job more than 10 years of technical management of optoelectronic devices, more than 13 years of industrial optoelectronic technology and product development, and 10 years of III-V thin film materials growth characterization. He holds a Ph.D in applied physics from California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, and an M.S. in electrical engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. |

Cindy Lott, Controller Since joining Silicon Light Machines in 2002 as the company’s top managerial and financial accountant, Cindy Lott has been responsible for all of the company’s accounting operations. She also assists management in interpreting and using account information to support the company’s continuing success as a leading technology innovator. Ms. Lott joined the Silicon Light Machines team from her role as senior accounting manager at Cypress Semiconductor. Previously, she managed the financial planning and analysis operations group for C-Cube Microsystems. Prior to that, she held increasingly responsible financial management positions at ITT Cannon, Birtcher Medical Systems and Aeroscientific. Ms. Lott holds a B.S. in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from California State University of Long Beach. |
